An arroyo, Spanish for “brook,” is a steep-sided, dry creek bed that seasonally fills and flows after a sufficient rainfall. Flash floods are common in arroyos following heavy thunderstorms. The term arroyo is mainly used in the southwestern United States. Continue reading
